Nigerians Are Startled As South Africa Increases Minimum Wage

Some Nigerians opine that the country is in a perpetual struggling state. Struggling to combat insecurity, poverty, infrastructure maintenance, sustainable economic development, education…the list is endless.

The constant row between opposing factions and rivals and the EFCC constantly announcing eye-popping figures allegedly looted and seized from fraudulent people has become the norm.

While the citizenry is clamouring for higher wages through the representing unions and the government wailing that the coffers are empty hence seeing the increase in wages as financially grounding the nation, South Africa announced an increase in the minimum wage to N126, 480.

Like a splash of cold water on the face on a chilly morning, some Nigerians are startled into bemoaning the state of the nation and when it will all end.

Here are some of the reactions on Twitter.

Nigeria is struggling with N30,000 minimum wage.. But in South Africa they will get N126, 480 .

This means SA workers would be earning N527 per hour: N4,216 per day and N126,480 per month. Their Nigerian counterparts would earn N1000 per day

South Africa increases Minimum wage to N126k but Labour is still begging Buhari(and the other fools around him) to accept N30k ??. Dear Lord, i need answer to my question. Why tf you brought me to Nigeria?

What a shame, not that the Nigeria govt. can’t afford to pay above 30k but because they want to keep the pple in perpetual bondage and servitude so that they can continue to lord it over them, they will not want to pay even the 30k
