The Coalition of Untied Political Parties (CUPP) has released what it
described as a New Year message to Nigerians, saying that a new dawn for
Nigeria will begin with the rejection of President Muhammadu Buhari at
the polls in 2019.
The coalition said that this is the only way Nigerians can forget the pains of years of APC maladministration.
In
a statement signed by CUPP spokesman, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, it said
the only way this is possible is for Nigerians to be ready to defend
their votes.
While wishing Nigerians a happy New Year celebration,
the coalition said that 2019 will be more bloody and painful if Buhari
is not rejected at the polls.
The statement read: “The Coalition of
United Political Parties (CUPP) has deemed 2018 as a year when poverty,
job loss and impunity was promoted by the Buhari-led administration.
“2018
was a year when poverty, job loss, impunity, tribalism, deliberate
destruction of lives and properties were promoted by the APC-led
administration against it’s own people.”
“A new report by The World
Poverty Clock shows Nigeria has overtaken India as the country with the
most extreme poor people in the world. India has a population seven
times larger than Nigeria’s.
“The struggle to lift more citizens out
of extreme poverty is an indictment on successive Nigerian governments
which have mismanaged the country’s vast oil riches through incompetence
and corruption.
“The 86.9 million Nigerians now living in extreme
poverty represents nearly 50% of its estimated 180 million population.”
As Nigeria faces a major population boom, it will become the world’s
third largest country by 2050, it’s a problem that will likely worsen.”
