Nnamani’s protege, KGB Oguakwa joins Enugu APC guber race

Former Gov. Chimaroke Nnamani

The defection of the Ebeano political family, led by former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), appears to be gaining traction as Hon KGB Oguakwa has joined the APC governorship race in Enugu.

When contacted, Oguakwa, a former two- term member of the House of Representatives, confirmed registering at his electoral ward office of the APC, hinting that the Ebeano machine “will work assiduously towards a dramatic victory of the APC at both the party primaries and the 2019 general elections in Enugu State.”

Oguakwa was the Enugu State governorship candidate of the People for Democratic Change (PDC) in the 2015 elections.   The PDC is the political platform on which former Governor Nnamani vied to return to the senate in the 2015 elections, but lost.

When asked if he was in the governorship race,   Oguakwa,   who was variously the Chairman of the House Committees on Aviation,   States and Local Government Affairs, as well as Culture and Tourism, responded emphatically,   saying   “yes, absolutely. Enugu is most certainly winnable, why settle for a so-called negotiated and paltry 25%?”

With Nnamani likely holding sway in his traditional stronghold of   Enugu East senatorial zone and resurrecting the largely dormant but previously formidable Ebeano structures throughout the state, especially if the rumored Ayogu Eze/KGB Oguakwa ticket becomes a reality, the fortunes of the APC in Enugu State certainly looks bright in the build up to the 2019 elections.
