OrderPaperToday – A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abubakar Yunusa (APC, Gombe), has openly disagreed with claims of unfair treatment against the nPDP bloc within the ruling political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While speaking to OrderPaperNG in his National Assembly office, Mr. Yunusa also dismissed reports that the nPDP asked the presidency to quash the prosecution of Senate President Bukola Saraki as one of their terms of reconciliation, saying: “Nobody is above law, including the Senate President.”
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), said: “Conflicts, disagreements and protests are all part of the political process but, more important, is the ability to manage such conflicts.”
According to him: “The issue of Saraki facing trial is not a precondition for any negotiation, and, moreover, he has proven not to be against the law by appearing in court several times.
“Mind you, Saraki has served this country [in] different capacities and it was not the APC that petitioned him, it was someone who wrote a petition to the Code of Conduct Bureau. So, nobody is asking the executive to drop charges, rather, they are asking for fair treatment and hearing.”
The lawmaker noted that all Party members ought to be treated justly and fairly. He noted, regretfully, that for nPDP members to come out and say they are not being carried along means “they are being economical with the truth,” especially as both Saraki and Dogara hold key positions in the current administration.
Continuing, he noted that the “major goal of the APC is to see how we can come out of the present situation stronger because the ability to manage crisis makes one a better person.
“Don’t also forget that both Saraki and Dogara were at the convention and they all made speeches. With the new executive of the party in place…all the problems will be resolved and I enjoin [Adams Oshiomole] to immediately go for the aggrieved members and reconcile them,” he concluded.
He, however, implored the aggrieved members to sheathe their swords, acknowledging that they ought to be compensated immediately.

Recall that the APC has been hounded by protesters as a result of crises thrown up by the ward, local government and state congresses, with the nPDP bloc leading a major charge against the party.
