Things are not looking good for Super Eagles center-back, Kenneth Omeruo ahead of next month’s dual International friendly against Cote d’Ivoire and Tunisia in Austria.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick confirmed last week that Super Eagles would face Cote d’Ivoire on October 9 and four days later take on Tunisia in another tie as part of it’s program set aside to gradually restore life back to the side.Omeruo is seen as sure best to be among invited players to prosecute the two friendly matches, but his recent injury update could rule him out of the two grade A matches.

The former Kasimpasa defender was pulled out of Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Albacete Balompié and Leganes said Omeruo’s substitution was a preventative measure to avoid further complications after the Nigerian felt some discomfort on his tigh.Nigeria last played in November 2019, a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Lesotho in Maseru, which they won 4-2 due to postponements caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

They are scheduled to also take on Sierra Leone in two qualifying matches for the 2021 Cup of Nations in November. The matches were to have been played in March but were rescheduled due to the virus.
