Ondo Suspends NURTW Indefinitely After 1 Killed In Clash

Activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers have been suspended indefinitely in Ondo after one person was killed in clashes between different factions.

Members of the union have been said to fighting over the management of motor parks.

Ondo state governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu announced the suspension at a press conference in Akure.

He’s also ordered all NURTW members to immediately vacate all motor parks across the states.

It follows a clash on Tuesday morning in which one person, identified as Ademola Adegoyegun, was killed at Old Garage area of Akure.

The government called the clash unruly and uncultured behaviour, resulting in violent attacks on members and citizens.

The unionists on Tuesday caused pandemonium around Oja Oba, Adesida Road and other parts of Akure by shooting sporadically while residents and traders scampered to safety.

This came barely 48 hours after the factional unionists fought at Owode area of the state, injuring many people.
