Stefano Pioli could stay on as head coach of AC Milan into next season, a report claims, but his future is currently in the balance.

There continues to be a lot of speculation regarding the managerial
position, with a number of outlets speculating that CEO Ivan Gazidis
wants Ralf Rangnick to join the Rossoneri as head coach and sporting
director.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday (via
MilanLive) takes a look at the positives of Pioli’s tenure so far, such
as developing a clear playing style and helping players such as Ante
Rebic, Samu Castillejo and Ismael Bennacer to recover their form.

He
has a salary of €1.5million per season, clearly under the salary cap
that Milan intends to impose, and is unlikely to make big requests of
the club on the market to come.

However, Lucas Paquetà and
Rafael Leao have remained on the margins of his project, and there have
been bad results in important games which have hindered the club’s
recovering.

Without qualifying for European competition in
2020-21 Pioli will not remain, but with a specific plan he could be the
one to take away the trouble, the report concludes.
