The Handsome Devil I Know by Sapphire

PROLOGUE

So I sat on the corner of the wretched bed which looked weary from being over used for years. It kept making scratchy sounds as I adjusted to have a good look at my sleeping baby boy.

A carbon copy of the man I call my husband, my baby was really too cute to go through the hardship life threw on him at this age coupled with the anxiety of separation he was already feeling. I smiled when he turned over and smiled in his sleep and right then, I knew that was the best decision I could make for him than allow him grow with this very handsome lazy man I met during my University days……………….

CHAPTER ONE

My name is Sapphire, a very young and promising girl in the city of Lagos. Am just 20 but I have seen alot, the good, the bad and the ugly. How I managed to graduate from school still remains a mystery to me cause everyone knows Sapphire as that very intelligent, beautiful and wayward girl from a rich background.

I had every good thing life has to offer, so I needed no man to make me feel special, instead, I spent on broke guys who ends up breaking my naive heart. I started dating at the age of 15 and I was the breadwinner of that ugly relationship till I grew up and knew better. The payback the first broke guy got was epic, in his next life he sure won’t mess with any girl.

Life in the higher institution was all bliss, everyone wanted to associate with Sapphire and all her glory. I had a beautiful red car my mom got for me, so I was literally Igbenidion’s University hottest chick.

Almighty me took ill, a very serious life threatening sickness just about when I enrolled for a pageant The Nigerian princess. The cough kept coming like thunderstorms and I was rapidly losing weight. You could barely recognize me even at close range. I knew with or without the pageant, I was still a princess so I packed my loads in tears coupled with fear of death, I headed home for proper medical checkup.

“I don’t want to die” I kept shouting at the hospital when all medical results showed nothing was wrong with me and no drug seemed to have an effect on me. I was dying slowly but Sapphire is a fighter.

Then my parents were preparing for their glamorous silver jubilee celebration and every preparation had to be kept on hold, running around to save my precious life. I didn’t want to be a thorn in their flesh nor disrupt whatever fantastic fun they had planned for their day, so I faked recovery and headed back to school just the next day after recovery faking.

My mom, she is what I would define as an epitome of strength, a woman of inestimable value and a priceless gift to mother Earth, she knew her children one by one and what anyone of us could do,so from the very first instance she knew I was lying…….

Chapter Two

So I weighed my chances, going back to the den of gangsters who were brotherly was far more better than staying in an on your own compound. Immediately my mom left me the next morning after giving a token to the house care taker so he would take good care of me, I picked a few of my things and headed to my former house.

It was a day after Valentine’s day, so cupid was still in the air and shooting arrows of love which I never imagined a string would get to my sealed heart after of break up from broke dude whom I literally fed and polished with everything in my account.

Every where in the Lodge was as usual enveloped with stench of marijuana, cocaine. You could see niggars popping tramadol and codeine. Everyone was excited to see me cause I was the happening girl and I usually lit up any environment I stepped in. “You are soo lean” Fred one of my lodge besties said as he hugged me and took my bag from me. I smiled weakly and the coughing spree started again, this time violently. I was vomiting blood.

Fred, a very brave buddy of mine, cleaned me and my mess up. Everyone was already talking, some showing sympathy but the girls, haaa the girls I trampled on by my extravagant life, they probably said within them “serves her right”

He gently took me to his room, dropped my bag there….

Rest Coming Soon…..
