A 32-year-old welder identified as Murtala Dare has been arrested by the Kogi state police command for allegedly stabbing his friend to death during a scuffle.
The suspect who was arrested at a hideout in the early hours of Monday August 17, killed his friend, Lukman at Jackies area in Lokoja at about 9 p.m. on August 16.
The welder got into a fight with the deceased following an argument. Dare reportedly overpowered the deceased, smashed him to the ground and brought out a knife with which he stabbed him to death.
He fled the scene before the police officers who were called in arrived.
Spokesperson of the Police Command in Kogi, William Aya said investigation into the incident had commenced and the suspect would soon be charged to court
