Only 20 hours after their abduction, the Ondo State Police Command said on Saturday that it had freed eight of the 25 victims of Friday’s kidnapping.
On Friday night in the state, three thugs who were likely gunmen abducted 25 members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Oke Igan, Akure.
The victims, who were purportedly church choristers, were allegedly attacked and abducted on the Benin-Akure Expressway in the Ifon neighborhood of the state’s Ose Local Government Area.
The state police public relations officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, commented on the development and verified that eight of the victims had been rescued, with work still being done to save the other victims.
Eight victims have been saved, and efforts are being made to save more people unharmed, she stated on the WhatsApp messaging service.
