Ondo State Police Command announced on Thursday that it has detained a 22-year-old suspect in an armed robbery and rape in the state’s Ondo East Local Government Area.
This was mentioned in a statement released in Akure by the command’s public relations officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya.
According to the spokeswoman, the guy was apprehended when one of his victims reported him for rape and armed robbery to the police.
She explained that before committing his heinous deeds, the suspect pretended to be a Good Samaritan and offered to assist one of his victims who was stuck.
Later, while on a routine patrol, he was captured by police officers from the command. He admitted, while being questioned, to having previously stolen numerous persons of their possessions and assets.
Through the suspect’s recovered phones, four of his victims were contacted, and each of them confirmed that the suspect had attacked and taken their possessions from them.
After the inquiry is complete, the suspect will be charged in court, according to Odunlami-Omisanya.
One cut-to-size gun with rounds, six mobile phones, a POS system, a black unregistered TVS women motorcycle, and other items were reportedly found on the suspect.
