Pose star, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez has made history after her win at the Golden Globe Awards, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel last night.

The 31-year-old American was awarded Best Actress in a TV Drama for her portrayal of Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista in the FX series Pose, which concluded with its third season last year.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, responsible for the awards, later announced that it made her the first transgender actress to win a Golden Globe in its history.

She had been nominated in the category alongside Uzo Aduba, Jennifer Aniston, Christine Baranski, and Elisabeth Moss, with Rodriguez describing them as “phenomenal.”

Responding on Instagram, the excited actress and singer wrote in a post: “OMG OMGGG!!!! Wow! You talking about sickening birthday present. Thank you.”

“This is the door that is going to open the door for many more young, talented individuals. They will see that it is more than possible,” the award-winner continued.

Rodriguez added: “They will see that a young, Black, Latina girl from Newark, New Jersey, who had a dream, to change the minds [of] others would WITH LOVE. LOVE WINS.”

“To my young LGBTQAI babies, WE ARE HERE. The door is now open. Now reach the stars,” she further commented.

She then praised the other nominees as being “queens,” adding: “I’m so happy to share space with you. Each and every last one of you women are phenomenal.”

Rodriguez is understood to have then appeared on a live stream, later shared by fans on social media, in which she took the opportunity to have an acceptance speech.

She said: “Thank you Golden Globes. This is for the LGBTQAI Black, Latina, Asian, the many multi-beautiful colours of the rainbow around the freaking world. This is not just for me.

“This is the door that opens for ya’ll, not me. There are going to be so many young, talented, thriving individuals that are going to be able to trail and storm in through the door.”

Rodriguez continued: “There was no acceptance speeches so I’m going to give it here. I am very thankful to the many beautiful people that came together with this show.”
