President Muhammadu Buhari has been called out by a socio-political group, the Movement for Equity and Justice in Nigeria (MEJIN).

The group accused Buhari of using his speeches to divide Nigerians.

The group alleged that all the body language and utterances of the President favoured the Niger Republic and the wider Fulani empire in Africa.

The Movement’s Spokesperson, Yinka Friday, made the allegations in a statement on Wednesday.

The group also explained that secession bids in Nigeria have not always been an Igbo affair as historical revisionists want the world to believe, claiming that other regions have one time or the other demanded exit from the Nigerian union.

On the backdrop of President Buhari’s outbursts against IPOB, the group traced the history of attempted secession in Nigeria to the 1950s, noting secession started in the North in 1950 when Northerners threatened to leave Nigeria if half of the Seat in the federal parliament by the colonial government is not granted to them.

The group claimed that “In 1967 after the July counter-coup, the North also threatened to leave Nigeria in the Araba riots and killings.

“From 2002 till date the murderous Boko Haram in the North has been trying to balkanise Nigeria on religious grounds declaring Caliphate Republics in various Northern towns.

“In the West, The June 12 saga led to the declaration of the Oduduwa Republic until power was hurriedly shifted to it to calm frayed nerves. The agitation is on today in the face of the killings by killer herdsmen in the West.

“After the horrendous pogrom against the Igbos and Easterners in the second half of the 60s, they declared the Biafran Republic and made spirited but failed effort to realise it.

“Before then in 1966 Adaka Boro led a secession bid and declared the Niger Delta Republic that was enervated by the Nigeria government then.

”So secession and secession bid in Nigeria is and has not been an Igbo affair as historical revisionists want the world to believe, we warn against tagging all Igbos secessionists or any such insinuations.

“Agitations are features in all parts of the country and are fallouts of misgovernance or failure of leadership and inclusiveness in the country. We warn against provocative and inciting write-ups such as the one by the COALITION OF NORTHERN GROUPS, CNG which was advertised recently”.

The organization called on President Buhari to build an inclusive nation and halt the militarization of the South East and Nigeria.
