Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to deter Barcelona from signing Neymar after the Ligue 1 Champions are set to offer him £33million a year to snub a move back to Spain.
The report in Mundo Depotivo says PSG is willing to up Neymar’s wage and offer him a new contract that worth £33million a year to persuade him to snub a Barcelona return.
PSG sporting director Leonardo will make an effort to tie him to the club until 2025 with a deal worth £640,000 a week.
The new deal would bring Neymar’s salary closer to those of the only two footballers in the world who earn more than him – Lionel Messi at Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.
The Brazilian star has been regularly linked with a move to back to Spain to join his former team Barcelona but the Le Parisians hierarchy is aiming to persuade the attacker to remain in France and take the team to the next level.
Neymar secured a move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 in a world record deal of £198m but he has been unsettled since his move to the French capital and the emergence of homegrown Kylian Mbappe as the face of the team further fuel his desire to move away from the French capital as soon as possible with Barcelona aiming to bring the star back to where he announced his arrival in Europe with La Liga and Champions League triumph before he moved to Ligue where he recorded a high inconsistency of his career.
