Lionel Messi has reportedly chosen what club he wants to join after handing his transfer request in to Barcelona says French publication L’Equipe.

Even though many people will believe that Lionel Messi cannot leave Barcelona, it seems like it might genuinely happen.

The Argentine has been linked with every top club in the world in the past week including Manchester City, Juventus, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United.

However, according to French publication L’Equipe, Messi’s father, Jorge Messi has informed clubs that are interested that Messi has already decided to join Manchester City.

The French publication got word that PSG’s sporting director Leonardo was told directly by Jorge Messi that his son has already decided on joining the Manchester club over PSG.

City have been the early-favourites to acquire Messi, due to their insane transfer budget, and a reunion with manager Pep Guardiola.

Both Messi and Guardiola were together in Barcelona from 2008 to 2012 where they won two Champions League trophies, among many others.

Reports have linked Messi to City in a variety of transfers, such as a crazy swap and cash deal with Bernardo Silva, Eric Garcia, and Gabriel Jesus going to Barcelona with €100 million on top of the players.

Even though Messi could still easily end up staying with the team he’s called home for the past 19 years, the transfer request and lack of reports of Messi backing-down means we might see Messi play for only his second team professionally.
