Rangers’ gaffer, Stephen Gerrard admitted that he cannot wait to see Joe Aribo return to full fitness after the Nigerian endured over two months on the sidelines.
Aribo is gradually being restored back into the team and Gerrard heaved a sigh of relief when the Super Eagles midfielder returned in Rangers’ 2-0 win over Celtic at the weekend.Speaking ahead of the trip to Standard Liege, the Ibrox gaffer said the Nigerian is in a race against time to regain his full speed to achieve the much-desired fitness.
“We still need to get Roofe and Aribo up to full speed. Everyone is fit and available and is only Katic not with us at the moment.“I am excited to work with a full group of players,” he told Rangernews on Wednesday.Although Rangers’ Europa tie against AZ Alkmaar is still a major doubt after six players in the Dutch side tested positive for Coronavirus, Aribo is a potential candidate for the clash, but he’s unlikely to be fit enough to start after he made the shortest cameo appearances on Saturday.
It remains to be seen how Gerrard intends to come up with a winning formation that can earn the Ibrox side three points against AZ Alkmaar.
