Liverpool are reportedly the latest club interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch international has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou for some time, largely due to Barca’s financial struggles, with Manchester United previously among his rumored suitors. However, the 27-year-old has never openly expressed a desire to leave the club.
The latest report claims that Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has received an approach from Liverpool regarding a potential transfer, with initial talks already underway. While Barcelona are seeking a €40 million fee, their negotiating position is weakening as De Jong has just 16 months left on his contract.
