Flood: NIHSA Issues Red Alert In Niger, Six States

The Niger State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says 197 persons were killed in road crashes in the state in 2017.

The Sector Commander, Mr Joel Dangwa, said this on Tuesday during the commemoration of the 2018 World Remembrance Week for Road Traffic Crash Victims.

He said the crashes were recorded mostly along the Kaduna-Abuja carriageway, the Mokwa-Jebba road and the Bida-Kataeregi road.

Other data by the FRSC revealed that nationwide, over 9,383 crashes were recorded, out of which 5,122 deaths were recorded.

This year’s World Remembrance Week for Road Traffic Crash Victims is themed “Roads Have Stories.”

It is aimed at creating awareness of road traffic crashes and ways to prevent and avoid it.
