Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has charged makeshift goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye to step-up his game if he must engage in shirt war in the national team.

The Sparta Rotterdam shot-stopper gave a good account of himself while in goal for Nigeria in Super Eagles’ two friendly matches against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria. But the Franco-German urged the light-skinned goalkeeper to push himself beyond the limit and go extra mile to regain his top form after being ruled out for 11 months.

“Maduka still has to work so it’s very positive. You know after 11 months to play again is not easy, it was difficult for the players and staff.”Rohr’ then showered encoumium on  Chidera Ejuke for his sterling performance after the CSKA Moscow summer signing came from the bench to impress in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Tunisia at Jacques Lemans Arena (St. Veit an der Glan).“Ejuke also is interesting, coming in, helping a lot, showing some qualities.

“We saw a lot of new players, we had eight new players, the goalkeeper position now is giving us good confidence.”Rohr told the Super Eagles Media Team after the match.Kelechi Iheanacho scored Nigeria’s only goal of the match as Super Eagles and Tunisia Carthage Eagles shared the spoils in Tuesday’s International friendly.
