Roma ‘Interested In Signing Diego Costa’ To Bolster Attacking Options

Roma are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa as the Italian side look to add to their striking options.

The club’s current first choice is 34-year-old Edin Dzeko and, with
another Atletico player Nikola Kalinic failing to impress during his
loan move in the Italian capital, manager Paulo Fonseca is desperate to
add to his options for next season.

The player they may look
to bring in is former Chelsea marksman Costa, with sporting director
Gianluca Petrachi keen for a striker of the Spanish international’s
personality, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

Costa
has struggled to replicate the form he showed at Chelsea and during his
first spell at Atletico, scoring just two goals this season, meaning
they would not stand in the way of the fiery forward departing.

It
would not be the first time Roma have targeted the 31-year-old after
attempting to sign him in 2013 when Costa was beginning to make his mark
in his first spell at Atletico.

Costa was also reported as a target last summer, but they opted for a loan move for Atletico team-mate Kalinic instead.
