To some shop owners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it may be difficult to attract foreign customers to their shops due to language barrier.

But some of the shops owners make their business establishments to stand out from the rest, because they can speak languages like Hausa and English to attract Nigerians and other customers from English speaking countries.

In addition, however, these businessmen observe what the foreigners especially Nigerians love and respect back home to get patronage.

This came to notice when onwers of a Jallabiya shop (Long Arabian gown) in Madina sighted the Nigerian pilgrims as they shouted “Sai Buhari” to attract them.
Unarguably, “Sai Buhari” is a common phrase in Northern Nigeria right from the time General Muhammadu Buhari was prodded into politics in 2002.

At the moment, “Sai Buhari” is arguably becoming popular even in the southern part of the country.
“Sai Buhari”, as it was observed, is a business tactic use by some shop owners to attract patronage from Nigerian pilgrims.

2018 Hajj media team from Kaduna state spoke with some of these traders in Medina, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to find out why they use President Muhammadu Buhari’s name to attract patronage.

Muhammad and Afnan are Bengalese who own a Jallabiya shop in Medina said they use President Buhari’s name to attract patronage from Nigerian pilgrims because over the years, they observed that Nigerians have so much love respect for President Buhari.
