Aston Villa goalkeeper Pepe Reina responded to a controversial coronavirus-related tweet by Clara Ponsati, the former Councillor of Education for the Catalan government, on Sunday night.
The tweet was later retweeted by former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont.
“Madrid
is already more at risk than Lombardy or Hubei, but they still haven’t
decreed a total closure,” Ponsati’s first tweet read.
“From Madrid to the sky,” Ponsati’s next tweet read.
This second message was deleted, but it was too late as thousands of people began to share it until it finally went viral.
Reina was angered after seeing this and opted to chime in with his opinion on the matter.
“You must be sons of b**ches,” he wrote.
