The Soundcity MVP Awards festival was held on January 5, 2019 and the annual event’s aim is to recognise outstanding personalities in Africa, particularly in music.
One of the stars to win big at the event is Burna Boy seeing as he went home with four major awards which includes the Best Male MVP, Listener’s choice, Artiste of the year and the Song of the year award. Though he was not present to personally receive his plaques, his mother did the honours.
Davido and Wizkid got one award each while Burna won Listeners Choice, Artist of the Year, Best Male MVP and Song of the year.
The awards took place at the Eko Convention Centre of Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Burnaboy, reacting to the awards wrote on his Instagram page:

“Many more in 2019, it’s been a hell of a year.”
