[STORY]:- My Fate, My Destiny – Episode 14

We took everything from the safe and left the bank. Richard and christy were outside watching out for any sign to show if we were been watched.
They told us all was clear when we got to them. So we entered Bayo’s car and drove off. Bayo didn’t head home or go to Richard’s house, he took us to City Cradle Hotel.

He felt it was dangerous heading home with all the Evidence in our possession.
At the hotel, we brought out the file containing my Dad’s asset. Richard was into land and properties managment so Bayo handed him the documents so he can ascertain if it was the original copies and how much they were worth.

Richard was going through the documents, we sat around him, every time he flip a page his mouth would hang wide open. We asked him what was wrong but he seemed not to hear us because he was just reading and reading .
When he got to the last page he paused and looked at me. “My God you are very Rich” he said. “Explain” I told him, and he did.

“Your father has shares worth Millions with Butler and shelfied and so dose JP okon. According to this documents, your father and Jp invested all their savings to acquire Huge shares in that company. Jp was not married so he signed your dad as his next of kin and your dad signed you as his next of kin. That is not all, this other documents contains original certificate of ownership of land and house properties of both your dad and jp”. Richard stopped talking.

The room was silent for a while, then I spoke “why would jp okon make my Dad his next of kin, dosn’t he have any family”
“there is more” Richard announced. “that plaza at Ogun state where Jp okon’s firm is situated belonged to him and your dad and now it belongs you
Bayo, christy and I could not believe our ears, we just stared at each other. “Let’s play this audio tape” christy managed to speak.

Bayo told us he had a small audio player inside his car, so we all went into Bayo’s car to listen to the audio tape.
The person speaking introduced himself as Jp okon. We all listened
“I am Jp okon. And this tape is to backup my signature on the documents that states joseph Otunba as the only beneficairy to my propertise when I die. No Biological family of mine has the right to contest my will because Joseph is the only family I had when others abandoned me.

Otunba joseph has the right to will any of my belonging to anyone of his chioce. But all I have belong to him and him alone.
The tape ended and we sat there assimilating what we’ve heard. “His family must have wronged him for them to be caught off from his will” christy said.

“Could it be that his family killed your Dad and okon when they found out he didn’t include them in his will” asked Richard. “I don’t think so” Bayo said “according to the documents happy found in her dad’s office Bag, it carely state that her Dad was in danger because he found an irregularity in his company’s account records. his death is linked to Butler and Shelfied”

“We need to watch the content in that video cassette” I told everyone.
Bayo went into the hotel to ask if they have the old VHS player but they did not so we had to drive to christy uncle’s house. She told us her uncle keep old things.We got to her uncle’s house and true to her words he had the Video player.

The three of us sat down as her uncle inserted the cassette.
My dad face filled the television screen as he began his introduction. I couldn’t stop the tears flowing down my eyes. I had almost forgotten
His face, his voice and his eyes filled with so much compassion and kindness. I was just six when he died and his image seem like that of a stranger but my heart filled with love for this man, a man with integrity, my father.

Bayo held me close to console me, Christy was also crying silently beside her husband.
My dad began to call names of People that were involved in shares and property theft. Bayo jumped up when the first name was mentioned, “it can’t be” he muttered.
What did he find out? Don’t touch the dial.
