Suspected Cultist Arrested After Threatening To Kill A Police DPO In Lagos

The police in Lagos state have arrested a suspected cult leader in Oworonshoki, Lagos, Kayode Ojo, for allegedly threatening to kill a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ifeanyi Owo, a Chief Superintendent of Police(CSP). According to reports, Ojo who is said to be the leader of the Vikings in the area, allegedly vowed to kill the DPO if he failed to release a member of his gang arrested during a fracas.

It was learnt that the suspect made the threats through a hidden phone number on October 11th at about 9am.

The DPO immediately contacted the state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, and relayed to him the threat made by the suspected cultist. Ojo was apprehended at his hideout at Obawole in Fagba after police decoded the number and located same at 15, Fakeye Street, off Jimoh Yusuf Street, Obawole, Fagba in Ikeja Local Government.

CP Imohimi while speaking to newsmen, said he ordered an investigation into the matter after the DPO relayed the threat to him.

”Consequently, the squad went underground and deciphered the unknown number to be 07033719352 owned by Austine Oghieh, 38. He was traced to 15, Fakeye Street, off Jimoh Yusuf Street, Obawole, Fagba in Ikeja Local Government where he was apprehended. The suspect confessed to the crime.  On completion of investigation, he will be arraigned.”

When interrogated, Ojo admitted to calling the DPO over the arrest of his ”friend” but denied threatening the officer. He also denied being a cultist. When asked what the marks on his face represented, Ojo said they were tribal marks and not cult symbols.

Imohimi said Ojo would be charged to court once invetigation is concluded.
