A mum allegedly beat her 15-month-old daughter to death saying she killed her own child because ‘that is what I wanted to do.’
The mother, named in reports as Aysel Y, 23, has been arrested in relation to the shocking incident in Seyhan, Adana, southern Turkey, according to reports.
Video footage shows the moment the mum is led out of her home by police officers, carrying her 15-day-old son in her arms.
Local media reports that she was arrested for beating her daughter Emine K to death when the tot’s father was out of the house.
The woman’s husband and father to the two children, named as Ilhami K, was initially arrested but has since been released after giving a statement to police.
Footage shows him crying as he waits to receive his daughter’s corpse back from authorities after an autopsy at the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute.
He told reporters he had no idea why the alleged incident occurred, and the mother reportedly said she killed her own child because “that is what I wanted to do”.
The mum had been having serious arguments with her husband before the alleged killing of her girl, according to local reports.
It is unclear if the mother has been charged.
The young son has been taken into the care of the Family and Social Services Ministry.
