Nobody was more excited to officiate a Champions League final than linesman Lorenzo Manganelli last night.

The Italian was manning the line as Bayern Munich won a sixth European Cup with a 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain to complete a memorable treble-winning campaign.

The behind-closed-doors final in Lisbon wasn’t the goal-fest many were expecting but at least we got the ‘lino’ providing plenty of entertainment before and after the match.

As he walked out onto the Estádio da Luz pitch, Manganelli touched the trophy as he walked past the richest prize in club football – clearly embracing what was a huge moment in his career as a football match official.

Then, as the iconic Champions League theme sounded around the stadium, Manganelli was seen with his hand on heart as though it was his national anthem.

That’s not all though as after the game Magnanelli became something of a viral sensation after kissing his medal having collected it from UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin prior to Bayern’s trophy lift.

Daniele Orsato, who took charge of the game, also did the same.

We’re still not quite in Mark Clattenburg territory just yet given the English official got the Champions League and European Championship trophies tattooed on his arm after taking charge of the fixtures in 2016 but Manganelli really was the star of the show last night.
