The former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu, and the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Temitope Ajayi, have clashed over the state of the country’s economy under the leadership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Moghalu, the better economy was also evident under the PDP-led administrations of Goodluck Jonathan and the late Umaru Yar’Adua.
The former deputy governor of the CBN, who held office from 2009 to 2014, continued by saying that Nigeria has been subject to “completely incompetent economic management” since 2015.
In a string of tweets sent on Wednesday from his X profile, Moghalu asserted that the country’s economy, which had been on a downward slope for the previous 40 years, had only “briefly” recovered under former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.
