Two officers were fired for robbery and unlawful work

Sunday Adetoye and Ogunleye Stephen, two police inspectors assigned to Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, were fired for offenses that the zone classified as unauthorized duty, official corruption, and armed robbery.

Following an Orderly Room trial, Mohammed Ali, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, issued an order for their dismissal.

On November 23, 2023, at around ten o’clock at night, Inspectors Adetoye (Force number 279495) and Stephen (Force number 223521), two Vigilante Group members (Abidoye Femi and Semiu Afisu), and a driver (Charles John) reportedly stormed a house in the Obada- Oko community in Ogun State.

Without a warrant, they allegedly searched Taiwo Monsuru and Akintola’s flat on Sunday and took five iPhones, a Samsung smartphone, a Tecno smartphone, and two laptop computers.

The Ifo Division police officers set up a roadblock when other apartment tenants told them about the incident and provided a description of the vehicle, according to SP Umma Ayuba, the zonal public relations officer, who also explained how they were detained. As a result, the people inside the car were taken into custody, excluding ASP Ajayi Victor, the person in charge of the unlawful operation. As of right now, he is free.
