Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva played his last game for the Ligue 1 Champions in the finals of the Champions League on Sunday evening.

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich and the defender sent a farewell message to the Le Parisiens, ‘It was my last game in Paris. I am sad. I apologise to the fans,’ Silva – who turns 36 next month he told French outlet RMC Sport.

‘I thank all the fans for their love. I will return to Paris and this club that I love in another role.

‘I want to play three to four years still and be part of Brazil team in the Qatar World Cup.’

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel also heaped praise on the Brazilian in his post-match press conference after it was confirmed Sunday night’s defeat in Lisbon was the defender’s final match for the club.

The German boss said it was a joy to have managed him and that he will forever remain ‘his player’.

‘Thiago Silva was my captain, it was a pleasure to have a player of his quality and personality,’ Tuchel said.

‘Whatever the decision, he will always be my player. He is in my heart and it has been incredible this journey with him.’

The former AC Milan defender is linked with a move to Frank Lampard’s team and he is likely to team up with the Blues for next season football action.
