Time will tell, Saraki says on stay in APC

OrderPaperToday – President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki has said only time will ascertain his continued stay in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Saraki is part of the nPDP, a aggrieved group in the ruling party.

The group had been involved in several meetings with the party hierarchy and the presidency in a bid to resolve their grievances but to no avail so far.

The Senate President however attended the party’s convention on Saturday in Abuja.

In a farewell dinner for delegates of the International Press Institute (IPI) World Congress which he hosted in Abuja, he expressed non-commitment to continue in the party.

He responded to a question raised the Chairman, Daily TrustNewspapers, Kabiru Yusuf, who lauded him for going to Saudi Arabia to perform the Lesser Hajj, his meeting in Russia and then returned to attend the APC convention.

Yusuf described APC to Saraki as “a party to which he belongs but which increasingly does not belong to him.”

Reacting to this, the Senate President said, “Kabiru made a comment and said that he welcomes me as a member of the party and further said he is not sure if the party welcomes me as much as I welcome them.

“I am not going to comment on that because I will be here all night commenting on that. I won’t like to be the front page story but time will tell on that.

“Already, based on this comment, I know most newspapers headline would be time will tell. So I won’t be surprised if I check This Day newspapers and I see: The Senate President says time will tell.”

He also expressed belief in the IPI World Congress, declaring that the sessions would birth “many strategies should have been formulated that will take the practice of journalism to new heights around the world.”
