TODAY’S MANNAWEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, 2018

TOPIC: GET HIS APPROVAL
TEXT: GENESIS 11:1-9
1) THE KEY VERSE:
“And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth” (Genesis 11:4).
2) THE TEXT:

(GENESIS 11: 1 – 9 KJV)
“1. And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.
4. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
8. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.”
3) THE MESSAGE:
i) The building of the tower of Babel by fallible men is x-rayed in today’s text. The builders of the tower were

seemingly unstoppable.

a) They had the zeal,

b) materials and

c) everything that was needed to accomplish the task.
ii) But like it is said that man proposes, God disposes. Their plan fell through.
iii) Immediately after the flood, the descendants of Noah were bound together by a common language. With their common language, they migrated to Shinar.
iv) Their decision to build a tower was against the will of God to multiply and repopulate the entire world.
v) God was evidently left out of the plan to build the tower. They wholly depended on their skills and never bothered to seek God’s approval.
vi) Their common language, which ordinarily should be a blessing to them, turned into their disadvantage. The best way to stop misguided man was to confuse their speech.
vii) Being unable to communicate instructions and dreams to one another, the inhabitants immediately gave up their common goal and set out across the world in accordance with God’s original plan.
viii) This outcome teaches about the danger of self-will. Any project by a child of God that does not enjoy God’s approval is doomed to fail.
ix) Those who rely on their beauty, handsomeness, level of education, wealth and other physical endowments in total disregard for God, will always have disappointment at the zenith of their achievement.
x) No one can be smarter than God. It is always in our own interest to table before Him the projects we propose to undertake and seek His divine approval.
xi) He never says no, if a proposal reflects His will. He may make one or two adjustments to make the best of the project. But when He says no, it means the project is not viable.
xii) We must learn to align our plans with God’s will.
4) THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
No amount of skills can qualify a project that God does not approve.
5) BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR :
