Tottenham have no intention of selling £58million Tanguy Ndombele despite interest from Barcelona.

As reported by Mirror Sport last month, the Spanish giants are understood to be keen on the north Londoners’ record signing, and are thought to be considering a bid.

But despite sources close to the player indicating in France that he is unsettled last month, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho remains invested in him, as do the club.

Suggestions that a swap deal is being considered for either Barca defender Samuel Umtiti or team-mate Nelson Semedo are also wide of the mark with Tottenham unable to afford the wages both players are on at the Nou Camp.

Ndombele, 23, has struggled with injuries and form during his debut season in London. It follows his move from Lyon last summer, which made him the club’s most expensive signing ever.

He was hauled off 45 minutes into a rare start in their 1-1 draw with Burnley earlier this month and was subsequently criticised for a lack of industry by boss Jose Mourinho.

Following suggestions that the France international was planning an escape route, however, Mourinho has sought to reassure Ndombele that he can be a success at the club.

Barca Director of Football Eric Abidal remains a huge fan of his countryman and believes he can get back to the form that earned him rave reviews at his former club.
