Trabzonspor Re-Open Bid For Omeruo

Turkish Super Lig side, Trabzonspor has again stepped up its efforts to lure Super Eagles’ stopper, Kenneth Omeruo back to Turkey, a report by Fanatik indicates.

The former Kasimpasa loanee was linked with the club early this month, but the latest report from Turkey revealed that the club chieftains are bent on bringing in a stopper and Omeruo seems to be coach Eddie Newton choice.

Omeruo was cleared to commence training at Deportiva Burtaque on Thursday following a massive Covid-19 test conducted by Leganes doctors on Tuesday, but word was rife in Turkey that the former U-17 star will be heading to Turkey barring any last minutes hitches.Already, Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr has warned all Super Eagles players’ to raise the bar and ensure they play for top-flight clubs and leagues in Europe to stand a chance of playing for Nigeria.

Feelers from Omeruo’s camp revealed the dark-skinned centre-back won’t be playing in Spanish Segunda next season in a bid to keep his place in the national teamThe former Chelsea defender sealed a 5-year contract with Leganes after 31 successful appearances for Leganes while on loan.Omeruo joined the Chelsea back in 2012 from Standard Liege and later embarked on several loan deals in Netherland, Turkey, Spain, English side, Middlesbrough and Spanish team Leganes.

The former Den Haag, Middlesbrough and Alanyaspor defender returned to Kasimpasabin 2017 having played for them in the 2015/16 campaign, making 26 appearances.The player joined Alanyaspor on loan last summer in 2016 and it will be the player’s fourth spell in Turkey should Trabzonspor’s deal go through.Omeruo played 51 games for Leganes with just one goal to his credit.
