Manchester United are preparing to make a fresh approach for Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso.
United unsuccessfully attempted to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford on a loan deal in January.
But the Red Devils remain keen on the World Cup winner, who has struggled to settle at the Allianz Arena.
Tolisso joined Bayern from Lyon in a Bundesliga-record £37million transfer in 2017 but suffered a serious knee injury the season after winning the 2018 World Cup.
He has played a bit-part role in the current campaign but the German giants were unwilling to weaken their midfield depth by letting him leave in January.
Despite this, the Sunday Express report that United remain keen on bringing Tolisso to Old Trafford, this time in a permanent deal this summer.
The Red Devils are conscious that Paul Pogba is yet to agree a new deal and is linked with a move to Real Madrid and former club Juventus.
As such, they have sounded out Tolisso as a potential replacement for his France teammate.
United will hope they can rejuvenate the 25-year-old’s career so he can replicate his best form.
In the 2017/18 season, Tolisso won the Bundesliga and scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
However, United will need to be convinced of his fitness before formalising their interest, as Tolisso underwent surgery to repair ankle ligaments last month.
The report adds that Bayern will not block Tolisso’s move to the Premier League as they look to finance a deal for Manchester City star Leroy Sane, 24.
The Germany winger is a long-term target for Bayern and they are aiming to land him at a bargain price.
Sane’s contract at the Etihad Stadium runs out next summer and he could even leave for as little as £40million.
