UCL Could Resume In August As Domestic Leagues May Be Finished In July (MD)

The suspension of the football
season due to the coronavirus is forcing the bodies responsible for
European football, to find solutions to accommodate the conclusion of
national and international championships before the start of the next
course.

In
this sense, it already seems quite assumed by all parties that the
official date of the conclusion of the season will go beyond June 30.
And that the domestic competitions could come to an end in mid-July or
even in the second half of that month.

However, the scenario
regarding international club tournaments ( Champions and Europa League
in the case of the old continent) is quite different. According to what
Mundo Deportivo has learned, UEFA handles two proposals at the request
of the clubs, which are the ones that have the most opportunities to be
carried out:

1. Leagues return in June, once the domestic competitions are finished in July, Champions League returns in August.

2.
In case leagues return in mid-May, which would cause the Round of 16
games to be played in July, with the rest of rounds in August.
