UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has suggested that if the Premier League is not back up and running by June then it the season could be “lost”.

A target of completing leagues throughout Europe by June 30 was set
by UEFA earlier this month but Ceferin is now quoted as saying that if
remaining games were not resumed by that point then there may be cause
to scrap them.

But Ceferin has also floated the possibility to finishing the 2019-20 campaigns at the start of the new season.

Premier
League games are suspended until at least April 30 but with a
shareholders’ meeting due this coming week, an extension is expected.

“Nobody knows when the pandemic will end,” he told Italian daily La Repubblica.

“We have a plan A, B or C: to restart in mid-May, in June or at the end of June.

“If
then we wouldn’t be able to do any of these, the season would probably
be lost. There is also the possibility of ending this season at the
start of the next, which would then be postponed, starting a little
later.

“We’re in touch with the leagues, the clubs, there is
a working group and we’ll see what solution is best for all. We have to
wait, like any other sector.”
