Uniabuja News Update:- Aluta Icon Clears The Air On The Omission Of His SUG 2019 Candidacy

ICONS NATION press release 5th May 2019.

Solidarity greetings to everyone alive around the world today….

It came to my attention that some students, staff and other individuals perceived my non-inclusion in the UniAbuja SUG election April/May 2019 as a disqualification on reasons that Aluta Icon had a clash with another Aspirant for the same position… Well I wish to categorically state it here and now that Aluta Icon never had any clash with anyone whether directly or indirectly, expressly or impliedly, physically or spiritually. I woke up on 24th April 2019 to the the news from my agent of been disqualified, I never checked the list myself until 25th April 2019 which was the election day where I saw the purported disqualification which was thought to be mine that the name and matriculation number were different from mine and I immediately raised an alarm of been OMITTED from the list as my student’s details (Matric number along with name) were missing from the published list of SUG Aspirants either Cleared or Disqualified. No wonder I was told a day before that they had no reason or report for why disqualification when I earlier thought I was disqualified.

Well as soon as I noticed that I had been omitted from SUG race, I called the Elcom Chairman “Mark Henry” to put a stop to the election immediately who was shocked and directed me to the Dean, I called the Dean who asked I see his Deputy immediately and later I was referred to get the approval of the Vice-Chancellor in other to stop the election which was already on going. I wrote my election petition demanding my inclusion on the ballot papers which was rooted through the Dean of students affairs to the Vice-Chancellor that day. I got the information that the election was inconclusive due to irregularities in Faculty of Science and this looked like an opportunity to get justice done because my only cry was to get justice done and my candidacy restored by total rerunning of the entire election for 2nd May, 2019.

On the 30th of April which was on a Tuesday, I met with the Vice-Chancellor who was not pleased with the injustice I had suffered but then told me that my prayer for total cancellation of the previously inconclusive election was impossible as huge money and alot of time had already been spent for the previous election and the rerun for only Faculty of Science. The V.C spoke to me in such a fatherly way to forget about the election and get compensation for all the expenses I had incurred during my struggle in the SUG election race. I left his office with a heavy heart because I knew my victory was certain both in Mini Campus and in Main Campus if I was to contest the election with my opponents. I went back to Mini Campus and was admonished by the Dean of Students affairs along with his Deputy to just let go of the SUG election and face my studies. After thoroughly consulting with my campaign managers and stakeholders, I decided to abide by the management decision to forget about them cancelling the elections and allowing the rerun election to be only for the inconclusive Fossa election.

I wouldn’t have written this article but because of the ill-news and rumours going around which came to my attention this morning, I needed to clear the air because I remember in my last press release that I vowed to pursue my non inclusion in a civil way and not in an uncivilized way. Well I wish all the contestants and winners of the elections a successful one and tenure. Below are attachments of the election petitions to the Vice-Chancellor… Viva Aluta.

Signed:-
Prince Wayne D ALUTA ICON
