VC Igbinedion University will produce electric cars that are lightweight

The first university in the nation to do so, Igbinedion University in Okada, Edo State, announced that it had started producing a lightweight electric minibus.

At the nation’s first private university’s 21st convocation on Friday, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, the vice chancellor of the institution, made this statement.

According to Ezemonye, work is still being done on the design and fabrication that would result in the vehicles’ manufacturing.

In the meanwhile, the vice chancellor declared that 842 students had graduated for the class of 2022–2023.

36 students, he added, finished with first class honors, while 299 received second class honors (upper division).

The vice-chancellor listed the accomplishments of the institution over the past year, highlighting initiatives including scholarships, campus-wide digitalization and innovation, and the creation of a Center for Distance Learning.

Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the university’s chancellor, also tasked the grads with representing their alma mater well and making a positive difference in the world by striving for excellence.

Igbinedion gave them the task of developing strong networks that would provide them with opportunities in a variety of areas of life. He was represented by his deputy and son, Lucky.
