Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has made a passionate appeal to Nigerians and other fans across the world to forgive their lethargic performance in Friday’s AFCON qualifiers against the Leone Stars.

Musa who had promised the fans that the Eagles would make them happy having being denied a chance to watch them live due to COVID-19 protocols said Friday’s 4-4 draw was a real shocker.

The former Al Nassr was replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho in the 71st minute while the Eagles were still leading  4-1 but having seen the poor ending, he has made another promise for a better show in Freetown.

“This has been a real shocker. I want to, on behalf of the entire team, apologise to the generality of Nigerians for this poor result. We will go to Freetown and do the needful.” Musa assured.

He added: “We made costly mistakes, we sincerely apologize and we promise we will fix things and get a win in Sierra Leone”

The Eagles still lead Group L with seven points, with the Leone Stars still third on two points, ahead of the pool’s other clash between the Benin Republic and Lesotho in Cotonou on Saturday. Whatever the result, the Eagles will maintain their place at the summit of the table, but a victory for Lesotho would drive the Leone Stars to the bottom despite Friday’s feat in Benin City.

Both Nigeria and Sierra Leone clash again in Freetown’s Siaka Stevens Stadium on Tuesday evening.
