Wenger Explains Real Madrid Is Yet To See The Best Of Hazard

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed why he feels Real Madrid has not seen the best of Eden Hazard, according to report.

Hazard complete a £150million transfer move to Real Madrid from Chelsea during the last summer as Zinedine Zidane looks to build his team for his second stint at the Santiago Bernabeu. The former Chelsea star has struggled to make much impact since his arrival, scoring just one goal in 10 matches for Real Madrid, though he suffered an injury prior to the start of the La Liga season.

The Belgian was even outperformed by 18-year-old Rodrigo Goes, who scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 win against Galatasaray in the Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night. When it was put to Wenger that Hazard might have been overwhelmed by his new club, the French manager disagreed. He told BeIN Sports:

‘He is not the type of guy to be [over-awed at Madrid] but I don’t know him well enough to assess that.’I think it was more down to physical reasons. He became too heavy and what you read in the papers. ‘If you want to make a horse lose a race, you put two kilos on a horse of 500kgs and it’s enough.’

Hazard hit 16 goals and provided 15 assists in the Premier League last season but he has not hit the same heights in Spain.’I feel we have not seen the Hazard we know in England yet,’ Wenger added.’He was not physically fit after he was injured. He is not a player who is usually impressed by anything.’But he looks to me that he doesn’t have the same confidence he had at Chelsea.’Hazard and his Real Madrid teammates will take a trip to Eibar on Saturday as they look to pick up three points in La Liga.
