Youths protest Mohbad's passing and call for justiceJPEG

Police will investigate the petition filed by the late artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad, against music promoter Samson Balogun, aka Sam Larry, according to the force’s public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Days after the singer’s passing, an internet petition created by the late Mohbad regarding a claimed threat to life by Sam Larry and others surfaced.

Sam Larry and 15 other people allegedly broke into a video shoot where Mohbad and another artist, Zlatan Ibile, were working and started shooting things up.The FPRO tweeted on Tuesday after posting a copy of the petition on his X page, “We will look into the alleged police negligence on this case.”

Traffic in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, was hampered early on Tuesday as hundreds of youngsters gathered to protest and seek justice for Mohbad’s unexpected death.

Black T-shirted youths started their nonviolent demonstration in Panseke and marched to Oke-Ilwo, Isale-Igbehin, Sapon, and Ake with signs reading “Justice for Mohbad,” “Government must arrest Naira Marley and Sam Larry,” “Who killed Mohbad?” “No more Marlian,” “Too young to go at 27,” and other phrases.

While speaking with reporters, the protesting youngsters urged that Marley and Larry be brought to justice by the Nigeria Police.

They also urged that all other people connected to the singer’s death receive proper invitations to testify.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry were challenged by the youths to emerge from hiding and confront the Nigerian youths.

The former Marlian Records signee’s family and supporters received condolence messages from the state governor as well.

“After a thorough inquiry, Mr. Sanwo-Olu has ordered that anyone who may have had any involvement at all in the circumstances that led to MohBad’s death be brought before the law.

“As a result, the DSS has also joined the investigation so that the child, his family, and teeming fans can receive justice,” it continued.
