Arsenal Unveil Double Summer Signing
Arsenal have unveiled double summer signing of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid and Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba.
The 22-year-old Spain international moves to Emirate Stadium on a season-long loan, while the young centre-back joined Gunners for a fee rising to €30m (£26.9m) before loaning him back to the French club for one year.
Ceballos draw plenty of interest from North London rival Tottenham Hotspurs after helping captain Spain win the U21 European Championship this summer but Arsenal took to their official website to confirm that they had won the race for his signature.
The Gunners had been locked in negotiations over a deal for the 18-year-old, with the structure of payments and Saint-Etienne’s demands that the player be loaned back to the club making an agreement hard to reach.
Ceballos made just 13 La Liga starts for Los Blancos, often struggling to displace Luka Modric and Toni Kroos from the starting lineup and has been given the No 8 shirt by Arsenal as he expected to fill the void left by Aaron Ramsey’s recent departure to Juventus.
Saliba who broke into Les Verts’ first team last season, making 16 appearances in Ligue 1.
