Nigeria Move 12 Places In Latest FIFA Ranking After AFCON

Super Eagles move places in the July latest FIFA/Coca Cola World ranking after winning bronze at the just-concluded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.  Gernot Rohr men garnered 1, 481 points as against 1, 433 it had in June which placed it at 45th which climb to 33rd place from 45th position after the world football governing body released the latest edition on Thursday on their official website Super Eagles remain third in Africa behind the Teranga Lions of Senegal (20th up two spots), who won the silver medal in the Africa Cup of Nations and Carthage Eagles of Tunisia (29th), who finished fourth in the competition.  Newly crowned African champions, the Desert Foxes of Algeria, who defeated Nigeria in the semifinals, made the biggest moves both by places and points in the global ranking, going up from 68th to 40th after winning their second continent title in Egypt and fourth in Africa while Morocco (41st) are placed fifth.AFCON surprise quarter-finalists, Madagascar (96th, up 12) and Benin (82nd, up 6) saw their continental performances rewarded with a ranking rise.Belgium remains the top-ranked team in the world while reigning South American champions, Brazil are second and France third.
