As player movement and trades continue, with teams across the globe looking to strengthen their rosters, newly promoted Entente Orleans 45 (Jeep ELITE ProA) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old Australian-Nigerian forward Chima Moneke (198-101kg-95, college: UC Davis). He is not a newcomer in French League as he played most recently at Quimper UJAP in the ProB.
In 24 French ProB games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.8ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg last season. Moneke helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. Great season indeed as he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Cotonou of the Year and voted to 1st Team and League Player of the Week.
The previous (18-19) season he played at Denain Voltaire (also in French ProB) where in 27 games he averaged 14.2ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Honorable Mention.
He graduated from University of California – Davis in 2018 and it is his third season in pro basketball.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM UJAP QUIMPER
It’s official: Chima Moneke will no longer be at Ujap Quimper next season. Best evaluation of the Finistère club in Pro B Chima Averaged (15.8 points; 6.8 rebounds; 1.7 passes for 18.7 evaluation in 27 ‘), and big revelation of the season, the strong Australian-Nigerian winger ( 24 years old) is indeed engaged with Orléans, 13th in Elite in 2019-2020.
A few days ago, Laurent Foirest himself made little illusion that he would not keep his main offensive asset: “He wants to go play higher, and that’s normal”, commented the ex-shooter of the Blues. In addition to Orleans, another Elite club appeared to be in the running to hire the former UC Davis (NCAA) star. But Orleans won the bet.
