An attack by gunmen in Ikwo community of Ebonyi state has been repelled by the police, The Nation reports.

A source told The Nation that one of the gunmen was killed during the shootout while a police officer was injured and in critical condition at a hospital.
Police spokesperson, Loveth Odah confirmed the incident but noted thay she was yet to get full details of what happened.
She reiterated that the police are however on the trail of the attackers and expressed hope that they will soon be apprehended. The attack happened the same day that unknown gunmen attacked and killed a member of Ebubeagu security outfit in the state.
