Erling Haaland has been one of the biggest revelations of the game in
the 2019/20 season. The 19-year-old Norwegian wonder has so far bagged
40 goals this term, and he’s not far behind the likes of Ciro Immobile,
Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the Golden Shoe
award.
Before his move from RB Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund this January,
Haaland was heavily linked with Manchester United, but he obviously
judged that a spell with the Bundesliga side would serve his development
better at this point in his career. However, as soon as he proved
capable of performing in Germany as well as in Austria, reports of Real
Madrid interest started popping up.
The latest of those comes from AS, who also claim that there is a buyout clause in his contract which kicks into action in the summer of 2021, set at ‘only’ €75 million.
Apparently, Real aren’t happy with the fact that none of their
players are able to replicate the goal-scoring contribution of Cristiano
Ronaldo, who left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2018, and they see Haaland
as the next prospective candidate to fill the void.
