Lagos's Trade Union Congress declares a single-day protestJPEG

Workers will be organized by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) for a one-day demonstration in Lagos State.

The demonstration is scheduled for September 25th, Monday.

Prior to its planned strike, the workers’ union intends to demonstrate against the state government’s ban on the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

Leaders of the TUC and Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) have urged the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration to relax its restrictions on RTEAN and NURTW and threatened to take action if the restrictions were not abolished.

The unions had also urged the government to repeal the restriction at a protest in June at the Lagos State Government House in Ikeja.
