Going into the game against Schalke, Augsburg had lost their last four games but Sarenren-Bazee, it was his first goal in four league appearances for German club this season.

Eduard Loewen opened the scoring for Augsburg in the sixth minute while Sarenren-Bazee netted in the 76th minute to double Augsburg lead before Sergio Cordova made it 3-0 in the 91st minute.

The win move Augsburg to 12th position on 30 points, seven points away from the relegation play-off spot, in the league table.

Nigerian striker Awoniyi could not replicate his scoring feat last weekend following Mainz 5-0 home defeat to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Just like last weekend, Awoniyi came off the bench but could not help his team from the heavy defeat in the hands of Leipzig.

The Liverpool on loan player was brought on in the 61st minute of the game.

Also in action was England-born Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, who came on 70 minutes for his seventh league outing.

A hat-trick from Timo Werner in the 11th, 48th and 75th minutes and a goal each from Yusuf Poulsen (23rd minute) and Marcel Sabitzer (36th minute), earned Leipzig the big win.

Mainz are now 15th on 27 points and are just three points above the relegation play-off position on the log.

For Leipzig, the move up to third place on 54 points and are seven points away from leaders Bayern Munich.

On Friday, Nigerian Federation target Jordan Torunarigha started and was in action for 90 minutes as Hertha BSC thrashed Anthony Ujah’s Union Berlin 4-0 in the Berlin derby at the Olympiastadion.

Nigeria international Anthony Ujah was introduced off the bench for the visitors 12 minutes after the restart. Teammate Suleiman Abdullahi did not make the matchday squad.
