Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has revealed why he signs for Cologne because of Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh.

The 19-year-old Festac Town-born star who stands at 1.97m tall scored 15 goals in 16 games in the Latvian top-flight club Valmiera FC since the league began in June.

Arokadare was close on moving to Vicent Kampony’s Anderlecht in the summer after the Belgium outfit who had reportedly tabled a bid for him but the Latvian side reject the offer.

The lanky former Golden Eaglets star speaking to German publications Bild website about his move to RheinEnergieSTADION over other teams.

“It was a perfect fit,” Arokodare said.

“I knew Cologne, of course, as a big club. Especially because a Nigerian legend has already played here, that’s Sunday Oliseh.“So it was clear that I would agree immediately.”“Yes, three years ago, when I was 16 years old, I went to Freiburg for trial and sighting training. Only for a week at first. Then again for a month. “Even then, I was impressed by how many spectators came to a normal Freiburg game against Bayer Leverkusen and how strong the atmosphere is. It was then that I learned my first German words. “Arokodare would hope to achieve similar success in Germany, starting with scoring his first goal when Cologne visit Mercedes-Benz Arena to take VfB Stuttgart in week four of the Bundesliga.
